90 | John Szabo's picks Alvento Elige 2007, VQA Niagara Peninsula Here's an intriguing, classy, old world style Bordeaux blend with above average complexity and depth from former Tuscan winemaker Bruno Moos. The palate shows wonderfully complex earthy-savoury notes over mature red and black berry fruit, while acid-alcohol-tannin are well balanced. Wood is still a little dominant, meaning that another 1-2 years in the cellar should set this up nicely. Lots of character and depth for the money for those seeking a more 'traditional' expression. Tasted May 2011. Value Rating: *** (226019) |
